FAQ's
Short on time?
Our archery sessions are just 1.5 hours and take place on-site at Whitewave.. no further travel required!
Do I need to have my own equipment?
For paddlesports; no. We provide all equipment, including waterproof jacket and trousers if required, buoyancy aid, spray skirt, drybag, safety equipment etc! You just need to wear appropriate 'active wear' clothing, and shoes.
For walking; you need to bring your own suitable footwear and a rucksack. If you don't have waterproofs, we can provide these. We provide all safety equipment.
Never tried an activity before but want to give it a go?
No problem! All our activities are suitable for beginners and we offer plenty of tips to get you started in a safe, low pressure environment. We encourage everyone to give something new a go!
What happens if the weather is bad?
On Skye, the weather is bad sometimes.. but it doesn't take away from the beautiful surroundings, and can definitely add a sense of adventure! Wind is the main thing that can stuff up paddlepsorts, so we always have 1 eye on the forecast for the days ahead. We will never head out in dangerous conditions, and always try to re-schedule when possible, or offer alternative activities... take a look at our T&C's at the bottom of the page for specifics.
Do I need to be a confident swimmer to take part in paddlesports?
No! We will give you a buoyancy aid and do our best to keep you out of the water... but if you do go in you'll float and we are well practised in rescues!
Double sea kayaks are incredibly stable and rarely capsize, so are a good option if you want to stay out of the water. Paddleboards come with a much higher chance of falling in,.. which is part of the fun! You will be wearing a leash, so can't drift away from your board, and your instructor will be nearby if you need help getting back on.
If you are worried about this, please contact us :)
What are the weight restrictions and why?
Weight restrictions are specified on each of the paddlepsorts activity pages, as they vary. These restrictions take into account the manufacturers max weight capacity for the paddling equipment to ensure it is safe to use, as well as our safety and rescue considerations.
Archery and hill walking do not have a weight restriction.
